Sunayna graduated from University College London Medical School with Distinction in 2012. She also undertook an Intercalated BSc in Human Genetics in 2009 for which she was awarded a First Class Honours, the prize for the Best Intercalated Student in the Biological Sciences, and named on the Dean's List for outstanding academic achievement. She then embarked upon the Academic Foundation Programme in Clinical Genetics within the North West Thames Foundation School. She organised her own project at IVF Hammersmith, pioneering a multi-centre study correlating embryo division patterns with viability for successful pregnancy. She also designed and performed an audit within the Clinical Genetics department about genetic cancer referrals related to increased public awareness on inherited cancer disorders, for which she won an international prize.
She is now in her first year of an Academic Clinical Fellowship position in Paediatrics at Imperial College London. She is planning to do a research project on genotype-phenotype correlation in Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia at the Royal Brompton Regional PCD centre.
