Dr Amar J Shah is currently an academic foundation doctor in Academic Metabolic Medicine based at Hammersmith Hospital in London. 

He graduated from Imperial College in 2013 with Distinctions in Medical Sciences, Clinical Sciences and Clinical Practice and a first class honours degree in Haematology. His research on the interaction between platelets and Von Willebrand Factor led to national and international presentations, at the Joint British Society for Haemostasis and at the 53rd American Society of Haematology Annual Meeting respectively. Amar has also recently published a book entitled 'Critical Appraisal for the Academic Foundation Programme' highlighting the importance of critical appraisal in academic research. Amar is also a keen educator and mentor having organised OSCE teaching and given talks to medical students on exam techniques for written exams. 

Outside medicine Amar is a keen musician, previously having been the singing director of the popular university show East Meets West which has performed in Her Majesty's Theatre and Theatre Royal.
