Richard graduated from Guy's, King's and St Thomas' School of Medicine having intercalated a degree in Radiological Sciences. He completed a subinternship in Pediatric Critical Care and Anesthesiology at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore. Completing the academic foundation programme at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust and the Institute of Psychiatry, he moved to Imperial College London as an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellow in Public Health Medicine. He has worked as a Senior Policy Advisor to the Department of Health and as a registrar at Public Health England. He is a Consultant Public Health Physician specialising in health services and health intelligence in the London Borough of Southwark and is a module lead and tutor at Imperial College London.
